Furosemide free water

Lasix 40mg tablet contains an active ingredient called Furosemide which belongs to the medication class known as diuretics. It is used to treat edema (excessive water accumulation) and high blood pressure. Edema can be caused by various underlying issues such as heart, lung, kidney, or liver problems. This helps the kidneys to remove excess water, which is not needed by the body.

Lasix 40mg tablet should not be taken if you are allergic to Furosemide or other sulphonamide-related medicines or any of the ingredients in the medication. Also, do not consume if you have anuria, impaired kidney function or kidney failure, severe kidney damage, very low levels of potassium, sodium, or other electrolytes, dehydration, low blood pressure, take potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics, have liver cirrhosis or liver encephalopathy, suffer from Addison's disease, have digitalis poisoning, or if you are breastfeeding.

Before starting the treatment with Lasix 40mg tablet, notify your doctor if you have hypovolaemia (low blood volume) or risk of low blood pressure, hypoproteinaemia (low levels of blood protein) due to kidney damage, liver congestion or other liver problems, kidney problems, diabetes or insulin use, advanced age or medications that lower blood pressure, prostate issues or difficulty in urinating, history of gout or abnormal blood condition, and upcoming blood or urine tests.

Before starting the treatment with Lasix 40mg tablet, notify your doctor if you have any of the following conditions: liver problems, severe kidney problems, kidney failure, swelling or painful urination, lymph node swelling or scarring in the neck or on the affected skin, advanced age or medications that lower blood pressure (diuretic or migraine medicine)Do not use Lasix 40mg tablet if you are pregnant unless your doctor clears it.

If you are a breastfeeding woman, you can skip the salt and water component of Lasix 40mg tablet if you are breastfeeding and intend to breastfeed. Do not take this medication if you are taking cyclosporine or if you are taking methotrexate (a blood pressure medication)., azole antifungals such as itraconazole (cilapt AFTER meals) or ketoconazole (Kitzip), antiretroviral medicines such as zidovudine (Macimore, zidovudine XL), or erythromycin (E. E. M., E-Mycin, Erythrocin), or clarithromycin (Biaxin, clarithromycin), or fluconazole (CeBid), proton pump inhibitors such as indinavir (Crixivan), ravucalciclovir (Amerge, ravig,[]) or rafain (Beirion), CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole (Nizoral), ritonavir (Kaletra), or saquinavir (Invirase), or CYP2C9 inhibitors such as atazanavir (Crixivan), doxepin (Orap), indinavir (Cinqo, Intervenire), or ketoconazole (Nelfinavir), orlistat (Xtandi), or itraconazole (Sporanox), or cyclosporine (Rheumatrex).

Product Description

Furosemide is a prescription-only diuretic prescribed for the treatment of edema in horses. The diuretic acts by blocking the reabsorption of sodium and chloride, which is the basic component of urine produced by the kidneys. It is most effective when given in conjunction with a fluid-lowering diet, or a low-fat diet.

How to Use Furosemide

Furosemide should be given with a meal, not without water, about an hour before or 2 hours after a dose of electrolyte, if necessary. It is best to administer this medication with a small dose of food.

Dosage of Furosemide

The usual recommended dosage for this medication is 2.5 mg/kg given once daily with food or water for one week. For maintenance, the recommended dosage is 10 mg/kg given once daily with food. The dosage is based on the amount of sodium and fluid retained in the urine. The diuretic is given as a daily, intravenous, once-per-day dose, once-weekly dose. If a dose is missed, administer it as an intravenous, once-per-day dose.
